background of our buildings
The church building at Danehill was built by the Hardy family in the 1890s. This Anglican church was designed by George Bodley and Thomas Garner. The beautiful stained glass windows were made by Charles Kempe (see below). More details on the church's architectural features can be found here.
In more recent years, further improvements have included the addition of dedicated rooms at the back of church for Sunday school teaching and other events.
The church building at Chelwood Gate (Beaconsfield Road) was provided as a 'Chapel of Ease' not long after the construction of the building in Danehill.
